Codemasters' F1 2010 has "surpassed expectations" by selling over 2.3 million copies around the world with 540k of those sold in the UK alone. No franchise "freefall".
They had "some cool things" up their sleeve with F1 2010 boast Codemasters, and they learnt a "great deal" over the years working on the Formula 1 racing franchise.
"It's fair to say that it surpassed expectations," said Andy Gray of Codemasters. "Hopefully we'll keep this up for this year's game." F1 2010 wasn't without its problems though after launch with the community demanding updates to fix game breaking glitches.
"There was a perception that F1 was in freefall as a games franchise as sales of the Sony titles had tailed off over the years," he added.
"We have some cool things up our sleeve. We have learnt a great deal in the couple of years we have been working with the licence which can only benefit the game."
F1 2011 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC September 29th.
