DLC "major focus" for Infinity Ward

After the November launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, studio Infinity Ward will be buckling down with downloadable content as their "major focus".

This decision was made following feedback from Modern Warfare 2 fans asking for "constant patches" and "exceptional" support, says Robert Bowling.

"That is a major focus of mine and the entire team since the feedback from Modern Warfare 2," twittered Bowling in response to a fan asking for great post-launch support. The community mouth piece also dismissed Call of Duty 4 'shut down' notions.

"No such thing is happening. We've just patched MW2 and are looking at our options for COD4. Shut down never considered," he said. Do you still play Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online, videogamer? Modern Warfare 3 releases this November 8th.

Wow, it's amazing to see the disconnect even in their own press releases.

Fans ask for constant patches and support. Infinitty ward take this to mean 'MOAR DLC'

I have MW2 on my PS3 and one of the biggest problems was patches for the game would take ages to come out. When customers ask for more game support, they don't mean another 15 dollar map pack with only 3 new maps in it.

Take a page from Valve and show your customers that you value them, offer them free content patches that add new weapons, abilities and maps. You'll see your customer opinions shoot up over night.

"CoD 4" is where it all ended for many and is still very much played (I've found more servers there than "MW 2" quite often).
As for the DLC - bring them back in Patches as they used to be, as the obscene pricing atm is unwelcome.

+1 Knave
patches and support =! DLC

Same here herodotus, CoD4 is about as far as i care about CoD but even that one does not compare to COD1&2 as far as i'm concerned.
But I've been more of a single player in the past, I have only been playing multiplayer for the past 5 years or so.

I still drag out 1&2 every so often, and have played the SP campaigns numerous times (all modded with exploding heas, wall-painting blood sprays, weapon textures etc.).
"CoD 2" is really where I started my MP gaming and as far as I'm concerned it's still the best (particularly for scrims).

I don't like the DLC train at all. They used to be patches, things that showed that developers cared about their consumers and players. Now we are big walking wallets - and worst thing is that it works for them. People by the craze every day!
CoD 4 was a really good game IMO - and the old WW2 games as well part from world at war...
