Wargaming.net has begun their Ultimate Conquest mode for MMO World of Tanks which pits "over 1500" guilds against one another to conquer 'the real world'.

It's a "huge leap for the whole project" and adds the "important strategic element" fans have wanted. The global map represents real theatres to battle in and take.

Initially maps for Northern and Mediterranean Europe will be starting things off but it will grow to include Asia, Africa, and America. "This will allow over 1500 already existing clans to show the best of their combat skills and diplomatic talents," read the press release.

World of Tanks is an MMO for fans of armoured death mobiles as they try to outflank and outgun one another on open battlefields backed up by their allies.

"We’ve been working on this for so long, and now we are proud to say that the Ultimate Conquest has begun,” says Kirill Mal. “This mode is a huge leap for the whole project, as it will add an important strategic element everyone has been so passionately waiting for."

Cool, might be reason to give the game another whirl! Now if only they would make it so each side could only have tanks from one faction.

Have tried half a dozen times to "get into" the game, but being nerfed by powerful King Tigers and/or Jagdtigers at the start of a round just gets wearing. I think any casual player will be left for dead in this new 'tank rush' mode that is "Ultimate Conquest".

Unless they fix the main issues (invisible tanks, matchmaking) adding new content means absolutely nothing to me.
I don't know why i still care i gave up on it with the end of beta. Maybe because the potential for a really good game is still there.
