A memo has reportedly been sent to publishers and developers from Sony stating the PlayStation Store will re-open on May 24. In the memo, obtained by Gamasutra, Sony unveils plans to do two content pushes per week for the next two weeks to catch up with the backlog of content.

"We thank you for your patience as we work to resume service of the PlayStation Store," wrote PSN content manager Jack Osorno to developer partners.

This will begin a torrent of PSN games that were forcibly delayed due to the outage. The first set of games will be released on the 24th, which will be the games that were due April 26. Three days later the games that were originally scheduled for May 3 will be released. From May 31 to June 3, three weeks worth of games will be released.

Well, it's good news that they at least have a date when they want the service to return. Now we can only hope that o one tries to hack it again nd forces us to wait another month or two.

I hope this end soon. The hackers have proven their point, it's time to stop ruining the fun for everyone.

Trouble is the hacker group, or splinter groups don't, I believe think they are finished with Sony at all. Particularly with Sony claiming they delivered the relevant news to everyone in quick fashion (which they are still being criticised over) and that the paltry offerings a s compensation to gamers (old games) is more than enough.
In other words, Sony really aren't showing enough responsibility at least publically that they are in any way at fault.

More relevant question: How long will it stay up when it does go back online?

Question is - when will they all move to Xbox including the hackers so that we have to meet in a park and play checkers...? ;)

Sony was hacked again on Friday 20th May. This from Rueters:

"Sony Corp has been hacked again, exposing more security issues for the company less than a month after intruders stole personal information from more than 100 million online user accounts.
A hacked page on a Sony website in Thailand directed users to a fake site posing as an Italian credit card company. The site was designed to steal information from customers, Internet security firm F-Secure disclosed on Friday."
