THQ has announced a Collector's Edition for their upcoming third-person shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, which promises to rock the minds of Games Workshop fans with visceral action set in the dark, forboding universe of Warhammer 40,000.

The Collector's Edition will include:

* Information Cards – This stunning pack of 25 foil treated collector’s cards will give you key information on some of the main characters you’ll come across in the game, complete with gameplay hints.
* Art Book – Packed with art from the game, this hard back art book will give you a behind-the-scenes look at how the world of Warhammer 40,000 was brought to life, complete with developer introduction.
* Soundtrack – Musical score by renowned composers Cris Velasco and Sacha Dikiciyan, this original soundtrack will transport you back to the epic universe of Space Marine.
* Purity Seal – Awarded to those who show themselves to be honorable in battle, this authentic poly-resin purity seal with double cloth ribbon and magnetic attachment is a replica of those worn in-game by Titus.

In addition, the following retailers are offering special pre-order items as well:

* a free copy of Darksiders and the unique Power Sword melee weapon
* Amazon: a Golden Relic Chainsword
* Best Buy: the Traitor Legions Pack, which includes two complete armor skin sets for the Chaos Space Marines; the Iron Warriors and the Emperor’s Children.
* Game Stop: the Emperor’s Elite Pack, which includes two complete armor skin sets for the Space Wolves and Black Templar Space Marine Chapters
* Steam: the Blood Raven’s Chapter Pack – EXCLUSIVE TO PC. Includes the full armor skin set for the Blood Ravens, the unique Space Marine chapter created specifically for the original Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War video game

Looks beefed, but not that much content that inspires a heftier price IMO. Hopefully there will be other goody packs - if the game seems to be any good that is.

Problem for Steam users is THQ have regionalised the digital download release of the game so it's $90 for Australians (with a pathetic skin and dubious free game). Naturally THQ, which has a bad rep for DD delays offers a MP weapon to throw things off-balance, but the best so far for me is Gamersgate. They offer no silly skins or weapons, but a solid 10% off (USD $44.95) plus the curious "Darksiders" (as Steam does).
I'll wait until closer to September when I can pre-order a hard retail copy at a good price with a decent offer (like with OzGameshop).

Ahh, I found not many options on the retail part - collectors edition is almost 100€ and that is not something I consider it being worth. have to wait and see if there are some nice Nordic editions.

This is why I hate special editions.

Different packs with nothing much in them.

Sure is alot of content. But I am looking forward to the game more than any bonus stuff. This game is the first FPS or TPS game that is based on the W40K universe that shows promise.
