Nintendo hacked by Lulzsec

Another Japanese console manufacturer was hacked, and this time, it was Nintendo, not Sony. The hacker group Lulzsec, who broke into Sony Pictures a few days ago, hacked Nintendo's US server. On the good side, there was nothing stolen. On the bad side, Nintendo didn't reveal this until weeks after the actual break in.

"The server contained no consumer information. The protection of our customer information is our utmost priority," said Nintendo of America, the U.S. branch of Nintendo, in an e-mailed statement to Reuters. "We constantly monitor our security."

Lulzdec twittered, "Re: Nintendo, we just got a config file and made it clear that we didn't mean any harm. Nintendo had already fixed it anyway. <3 them." On the hacker group's official site, "Considering fun is now restricted to Friday, where we look forward to the weekend, weekend, we have now taken it upon ourselves to spread fun, fun, fun, throughout the entire calender (sic) year."

Considering Nintendo doesn't hold user information - forcing gamers to repurchase items when they want to re-install - there was probably nothing Lulzsec actually wanted.

Well Anonymous and Hotz, I hope your happy of the shitstorm you brewed up.
Hearing all this hacking stuff is giving me a headache! And I really don't want to think about the level of security the nex-generation of video games will have after all this. :S
This is only gonna get worse before it's gets better!

Spreading 'fun' is not a hacker's aim, and obviously there are some sick individuals out there (with enormous talent) if they think it is. The Cyber Crimes Unit of the AFP in Australia just can't keep up with them on the hacker sites (thousands of them).
Biggest problem for the policing units is the Law itself. When caught, hackers rarely if ebver are given more than a fine and slap on the wrist. So back they go...

They won't hack Microsoft because they know they'll get f***ed if they do.

Yeah cause Microsoft is somebody who actually has qualty in them, not like sony. They are just a bunch of cheap, lazy people who care more for the next dollar than customer service.

Or perhaps that US will really take this as a terrorist attack if Microsoft or Apple or similar was hacked. NATO, USA, we all know how "free" the world became after 9/11 - give them a reason to go after hackers and totally shut everything tight down - and there are powers that will. I hope this hacker thing stops in time...

Ehh... They can't stop them. "The tighter your grip, the more star systems will slip right through your fingers". An a-hole move by the US would send droves to Anonymous HQ to sign up. The only way to deal with them is to be "nice". While their methods are questionable,to say the least, I must say I agree with their ideals.

I love how every single person who plays a Console and FAVORS it over another , keeps saying " XBOX WONT BE HACKED cause they got Decent Security "

"SONY IS THE BEST QUALITY OF GAMING AND SECURITY !!!!"

Guys if you start thinking for a second ( Excuse me ) you will see that Xbox was kinda hacked in the early days of 360s Release and people started pirating games ... ..... So the security there isnt All that good .... SONY GOT HACKED also , but a bit later than them .... so lets say they are equal .....

Sony though is messing itself up , so its kinda of doing worse AT THE MOMENT , while Xbox 360 Was doing worse Earlier . SO everyone stop with the darn COmmenting of GOOD and BAD Consoles ..... get over it.

"Fear demands security"

So, in order to control the masses, scare them to death and then use their fear to lead them to a cage of security you've already created prior to the fear campaign.

Sony's security is amazing? That's why the files taken by Lulzsec weren't even encrypted right? After they hacked them...THE SECOND TIME!

I said that they 're PS3 Was more secure than the Xbox , not the Network or their Sites ... Dont Twist my words .
In terms of Sites and Networks , im not sure which is better because nobody has actualy tried to hack Microsoft's network , as much as i am aware of .

But Sony sux with non-encrypted files .
