E3 2011: Halo 4 announced, part of a new Trilogy

Microsoft has announced that a new trilogy will begin when Halo 4 releases in 2012.

Developed by 343 Industries, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. Halo 4 will be set in the aftermath of Halo 3.

Halo titles will soon lose the hardcore Impatc of the title :s halo 4 5 6 7 8.. cmon.. Why not come up with a new name?

343? Wasn't that the studio that ported over halo 1 or was it halo 2 or both? Either way I think this could mean Halo on PC :D.

The titles you mentioned, Jonah all finished at #3 for me so I'm perhaps not a good judge of these long winded franchises. I just don't know why the "Halo" franchise can't move on (as in format - multiplatform, for example) or just end on the high note (kinda) that it did.
Oh, of course...money.
