CCP have announced that their upcoming shooter spin-off project for EVE Online - Dust 514 - will be a Playstation 3 exclusive.

The game was announced by the Icelandic company in 2009, but it is only this year that they has really started to release details on the project.

Dust 514 will be a first-person shooter game that is supposed to tie in heavily with EVE Online, and will also be integrated with Move, Playstation Home and the NGP

A closed Beta is due at the end of this year, with a release window set for Spring 2012.

Interesting decision to go exclusive. This will I believe hamper sales figures as "EVE Online" has a large following on PC, but I'm not sure that will cross over. This game might just ending biting the dust.

How long have you wanted to say that, Hero? :P There's a lot of factors to be considered with Dust 514, so it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

The key is to really make the interactions between EVE and Dust meaningful, but whilst the MMO guys will appreciate that, the FPS guys might not care, so this may not end up appealing to the entirety of its audience.

It depends if they can get the interactions to go both ways.

Eh, not a smart move to make it exclusive with the shape the PS3 is in right now...

No. The PS3 has NOT outsold the 360 since 2008. They've had more active machines (more 360's out for repair), but they have not outsold the 360 since then. (It's called Manipulating Numbers, lol)

Also, fewer PS3s are used for GAMING (which is why 360 sales almost always outsell PS3 sales in multiplatform). I personally know of 3 people who only use their PS3 for Blu Ray playing.

Need proof? Look at the relatively low sales of first party games on the PS3.

Will what JonahFalcon said, and the security shit hole its in...

...and the number of PS3's traded in for 360's during and since the 'outage'.
Couldn't resist, mate:)

The one thing that I question is with PC your game can keep going as pc games are constantly updated for new software and hardware.

But what happens to the ground combat of Dust when the PS3 is replaced a few years down the line?

Meh.. Not that hyped.
