The Darkness 2 developer Digital Extremes has announced it's working on a Star Trek game due out next year, tied to the upcoming JJ Abram's feature film.

It's got an original storyline to follow and gives us an "unprecedented co-op experience" as Kirk and Spock are playable. A trailer has come out of E3 2011.

Star Trek releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2012. Digital Extremes is developing the sequel effort to Starbreeze Studio's The Darkness. Kirk and Spock must fight together to take on a legendary race attempting to conquer known space.

Looks nice. Hope the action is not too similar to mass effect cause i primarily played that for the story. I didn't really like the action parts.

But, as you can probably guess from my avatar i'm always hyped for a trek game. It's just that the track record of good trek games is a bit sad, i hope this is one of the good ones again, we need a good trek game.

Might be worth a look if the price is right. I'm easily pleased with ST games (got hours of fun from "Star Trek D-A-C-", released with the first film that has been panned by critics).

Most movie-to-game adaptations aren't really worth the money or trouble.

But they sell, and that's all the Pubs and Movie Companies want. A bit like Novel tie-ins with films...sometimes actually better than the film.

They sell mostly because people watch the movie and they just gotta play the game
