Mass Effect 3 confirmed "Better on Kinect"

Vocal command: "Kill!"
BioWare has confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will include Kinect functionality with the Xbox 360 version of the highly anticipated roleplaying game.

However, 360 gamers don't have to worry about having to hop around their living room or making pistols with their fingers and shouting "Pew! Pew! Pew!" to fire. Mass Effect 3 will be utilizing Kinect's voice recognition feature. Instead of selecting what to say with a controller, the player can now say the phrase at the bottom of the screen to begin a dialog. In addition, squad commands can be issued.

While the PC and PlayStation 3 are certainly capable of utilizing voice recognition through a normal mic, the reason only the Xbox 360 version is getting the voice recog is that Kinect does its voice recog through internal hardware, meaning Bioware doesn't have to do any additional programming - Kinect does it all for the developers.

Mass Effect 3 will be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime in early 2012.

I prefer not talking, it just feels like I'm talking to myself when using voice recognition. Even if this were available on PC, I probably wouldn't use it. It's faster to click, anyway :P

Actually, I'd love to say stuff like "Are you kidding?" or "[Kill him]" when it appears in the dialog box. :D

I didn't bother with it in "TC's: Endwar" so I wouldn't here. I agree, unsilviu, I don't like talking to myself either. It does highlight the fact that Bioware are targetting console gamers with "ME 3", and that's something that makes me nervous for a "DA 2"-type release.

I will never use Kinect for anything. First i don't like talking to my self and second i don't want to take a break every 30 minutes.

Why take a break? Is Kinect limited to 30min?

No but won't you get tired of all the movements. But Kinect is only good for one kind of games aand it's the sport games. It will grow your muscles in like a week.

@herodotus
I agree. We've all seen what they did to DA 2 and it frightens me even to imagine what they would do to ME3.

Xbox I think, only after it was released for PC, by the way can we say something that is not an option :P

Actually, the PC version was after the XBox for ME1, and it was considered a great improvement :P

ME is a console franchise - it is just that the figures of PC sales are most likely enticing and profitable enough. ;ass Effect sold well, even though there was a rather huge outcry due to the DRM and activation limit. I didn't get it until the activation was gone.
Kinect in games are just natural and I think that is a good idea - though I would have the same problems to sit and shout at a game ion the middle of the night...
