Bethesda latest hacking victim
Posted: 14.06.2011 05:00 by Comments: 6
The unauthorized intrusion and personal data theft problem has officially become an epidemic, and its latest victim is Bethesda, developer of Fallout 3, Rage and The Elder Scrolls series.

This was revealed by the developer/publisher's official blog, Bethblog. According to the site:

Over the past weekend, a hacker group attempted an unlawful intrusion of our websites to gain access to data. We believe we have taken appropriate action to protect our data against these attacks. While no personal financial information or credit card data was obtained, the hackers may have gained access to some user names, email addresses, and/or passwords. As a precaution, we recommend that all our fans immediately change passwords on all our sites including our community forums, statistics site, and here on the blog.

If your username/email address/password is similar to what you use on other sites, we recommend changing the password at those sites as well. As we dont know what further plans the hackers may have, we suggest that you keep an eye out for suspicious emails and account activity.

Let us know if you've been informed of this from Bethesda.

Wow, i can't believe somebody would hack into something online. (LOL!)
Oh well, at least this way they'll be able to join all their other buddies in jail soon.

One more in a long list to finally be tallied when, or if the dust settles. It's about time Usernames and Passwords were seriously looked at, as they no longer do what they're supposed to - keep intruders out.
