EA: We didn't pull Crysis 2 from Steam

GameFront received a statement from Electronic Arts denying that they pulled Crysis 2 from Steam, despite the button stating "only on Origin". Rather, this seems connected to the game's ability to sell content from within itself.

The official response from EA reads:

It’s unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis 2 from their service. This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA.

Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis 2 from Steam.

Contrary to reports, Crysis 2 is available digitally from other online retailers such as GameStop and Amazon.

What a circus this is!

As both services offer ridiculous pricing measures I could care less. If I want "Crysis 2" I'll buy it down the line at a budget cost on EBay.
Frankly the pricing with regard to regionalisation is daft. It means we in Region 4 have to buy boxed copies over digital (for a cheaper game), which is ridiculous. Be interesting to see just how much of a profit loss the digital services are suffering over this (aside from gamers who use friends o/seas to buy for them

I only ever buy from steam if theres a sale on, Amazon is much cheaper.

The prices now on Steam are ludicrous, often including the so-called 'Sale' price. I've seen 'Sales" much cheaper on other DD stores, even when they are linked with Steam (as several games are). Then again, EA/Origin aren't the cheapest store in town by a long chalk.
Amazon is good, but India's online stores are better. Fraction of the price for a full legitimate retail release.

Ebay is the way. Right now there is a top rated seller that can sell Crysis 2 PC new and sealed for a little over $ 30 bucks.
