Eurogamer blacklisted by 2K Games?

Things have gotten a little blacker over the reviews of Duke Nukem Forever. Despite 2K Games firing The Redner Group for their tweet threatening to punish reviewers who gave the game vitriolic reviews, Eurogamer is stating that they indeed have been 'blacklisted' for their scathing review of Forever by 2K Games.

Eurogamer's Tom Bramwell tweeted: "I feel sorry for @TheRednerGroup today. We are blacklisted by @2KGames and it seems to be standard practice."

So, did Jim Redner give 2K Games the opening they needed to scapegoat the blacklisting of reviewers who negatively reviewed Forever? Was Redner parroting on Twitter what was told to him by 2K Games, and mistakenly out of anger made it public? Or is Bramwell paranoid?

This entire fiasco is reminiscient of the Gerstmann/GameSpot/Kane & Lynch controversy of a few years ago.

Strategy Informer awarded Duke Nukem Forever a mild 7.0/10 review. You can read it here. Our feature story "Duking It Out on Twitter" covers the history of the controversy; you can read it here.

Every1 knows "threatening to punish reviewers" happens all the time, specially on game magazines.

Oh, the film industry is worse, and the book industry? It's a totalitarian state. Videogames have had it easy.

Seems like the difference between horrible and great game will soon be good review and entusiastic review :P

Just watched Gamespot's video review and was one of the least professional reviews I've seen in a while (says it all about GS really). SI and Good Game's reviews are more objective and explanatory. The bad reviews seem to just be hateful rants with no good reason, but the game really is generating a lot of controversy at present.

Thing is, people had unnaturally high expectations. For a title this troubled, they should say thank you for it existing, and setting the stage for future good Duke Nukem titles.

Let The Duck rest in pieces. He was a '90's gaming character (and a minor one at that, back then). Let's leave him there for the sake of gaming history and my sanity.
