Developer Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which they're making with Infinity Ward, will be colour blind friendly.

Michael Condrey of Sledgehammer revealed the feature when asked by a colour blind fan. That "red-green deficiency" won't plague Modern Warfare 3.

"I am happy to report that we are working on a Colour Blind Assist option for Modern Warfare 3," said Sledgehammer VP and COO, Michael Condrey. Colour blindess makes it very difficult to distinguish between certain colours especially when in close proximity.

"I know it's a long shot but I would like to know if the upcoming title, MW3 multiplayer has the option for colour blind gamers. i.e... alternate colours like in Black Ops," asked a Call of Duty fan. "As a color blind gamer this will a big influence as to whether I buy the game."

Sledgehammer and Infinity are already on the case. "Start honing your MP skills, Nick," Condrey said, answering the COD fan. "You won’t be able blame your red-green deficiency for all that friendly-fire come November 8th."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC November 8th. Do you suffer from colour blindess, videogamer? The studio estimates there's around 1 million Call of Duty players with the condition.

I saw that option in another game's options recently ("Civilisation 5" perhaps?). Progressive and thoughful move on Sledgehammer's part.
The cynic in me just wants to think they are looking for ever known market to eek out the very last dollar from, but surely not. Not "CoD".
