The best defence for the universe is five-player online co-op, and THQ's Voltron: Defender of the Universe will prove it when it releases digitally this October.

It's heading for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. It's also got two-player offline co-op as well as singleplayer. It'll use animated clips from the show.

Voltron was an animated cartoon series in the mid-80s where a bunch of young pilots flew about the place in five mechanical Lion vehicles that could form together to make Voltron who'd easily dispatch bigger baddies with his jumbo sword.

It's an action adventure title that’s for PSN and XBLA releasing October 25th and 26th respectively. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime and Naughty Bear's Behaviour Interactive is developing the THQ 'remake' of Voltron: Defender of the Universe.
