Developer Eutechnyx has announced that its browser-based racing MMO Auto Club Revolution will start its closed beta on July 25.

According to Eutechnyx executive producer Doug Wolff, “We’ve produced a specific game set-up for this test phase in order to help us properly scale test features, assess content and see how the Auto Club Revolution platform is shaped and used in a live environment."

The game has already had a few balance tweaks to make the career mode more engaging.

“For example, we’ve shortened the player level-up system and made the higher tiers (of cars) easier to reach so that we can properly test progression in a real world environment. We’ll reset all of these elements when we move to 'no invitation needed' Open Beta at the next phase," reported Wolff.

The biggest feature being promoted during this upcoming beta is the Workshop, in which players can customise their cars through an entirely web-based interface with highly detailed 3D car models and easy-to-use tools. The editor will allow the user to fully change the colour and paint style of their cars, as well as apply a large set of decals, shapes, designs and paint schemes.

Applications are still being taken for the closed beta phase of testing. Interested gamers can apply here.
