Deep Silver has announced today that just before Dead Island is released for the PlayStation 3 this September, PS3 users will find zombies wandering around PlayStation Home's Central Plaza, which will also be made to resemble the Royal Palms Resort of the Polynesian vacation spot of Banoi Island.

Coming with the reskin, a Dead Island-themed mini game bundle will be available to PlayStation Home visitors in which players must prove their skills in crafting items and pit their abilities against attacks from a rampaging zombie horde. The mini-games can be played with up to four players in co-op. In all, there are 10 mini-game challenges, and completing all of them will reward the player with an exclusive in-game weapon, “Exploding Meat”. (Don't ask!)

In addition, certain items in the PlayStation 3 version of Dead Island will only be obtained through this PlayStation Home event, and each week will introduce more levels and unlockable content including a premium PlayStation Home reward “Exploding Zombie Outfit” for players that pre-order Dead Island directly from Home’s Central Plaza and the aforementioned “Exploding Meat."
