Analyst firm Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment (FADE), has reported their prediction for Valve's Steam platform and say they reached $468m by June.

That's revenue for the first half of 2011. FADE believe Portal 2 led strong growth clearing $56.4m through 1.1m units. Magicka hit 789k units worth $6.2m.

Valve is notoriously secretive when it comes to Steam sales figures and so FADE's predictions must be taken with a pinch of salt. The predicted revenue of $468 million this year is up from their prediction of $329 million for the previous year of the same period.

Below is FADE's estimated top 10 Steam titles (1st half, 2011):

1. Portal 2 (Valve)
1,128,000 Units Sold ($56.4 Million USD)

2. Magicka (Paradox Interactive)
789,000 Units Sold ($6.2 Million USD)

3. Terraria (Re-Logic)
580,000 Units Sold ($5.8 Million USD)

4. Counter-Strike (Valve)
399,000 Units Sold ($2.7 Million USD)

5. Total War: Shogun 2 (SEGA)
326,000 Units Sold ($15.1 Million USD)

6. Monday Night Combat (Uber Entertainment)
264,000 Units Sold ($2.9 Million USD)

7. Brink (Bethesda Softworks)
256,000 Units Sold ($13.5 Million USD)

8. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (Electronic Arts)

9. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution (THQ)

Portal 2 totally deserves top sales. I find it however strange that CS is in the top, wasn't that game old?

CS is still very popular.

All the experience I have with CS is stupid brats barging in the computer room at my school to play CS when we were studying for a national competition. Therefore, my image of the CS player is about as good as that most people have of WoW players :P

I think I prefer rare releases, as long as they keep the incredible quality valve is known for. But I'd pay $100 for a new Half Life at the moment :P

yeah they get a lot of money even with the sales events so it shows you don't have to be greedy to get money so when ur finished giving that money to server upkeep and staff get us a good half life :P
