Everyone's favorite Steam-based physics toy, Garry's Mod, has now hit 1M sales. The sandbox utility which allows users to manipulate the engine hit the milestone over the weekend. Garry Newman, creator of the mod, gushed that the popularity of the software is "more than I could have ever expected or wished for!"

Newman added that Garry's Mod would have a new update soon.

"I know this isnít exactly Minecraft's 2.9 million," Newman posted, "But this is a pretty big deal for me considering this all started off as a tiny tiny modification about 6 years ago."

Regarding the update, Newman added, "I did plan to release a big secret update Iíve been working on when we hit 1mil. But itís not ready Ė you guys beat me to it."

The best known use for Garry's Mod is for webcomics such as Concerned: The Life and Death of Gordon Frohman.

GMod is also unique in how it began and a mod, and is now sold and promoted by Valve, I'm surprised they haven't started developing it themselves(hopefully because they're tied up with the next Half Life :3)
