Ubisoft: Always on DRM not on From Dust [update]

VG247 contacted Ubisoft regarding the "Ubisoft Online Service" listen in the DRM section of the Steam listing for From Dust.

The response from a rep from Ubisoft will make people feel better, at least for this particular game: “From Dust will not require a permanent online connection to play in single-player mode.”

The same is still not true for Driver: San Francisco, however. “Ubisoft requires a permanent Internet connection to play this video game at all times.”

[Update: Bluesnews has reported: We received our answer about the DRM in From Dust after the Steam Listing suggested the upcoming god game might use Ubisoft's "always on" DRM. Confirming word from last night, here's the deal: "You will not need to be connected online when playing From Dust's single player campaign and challenge modes."]

Heh, Ubisoft are finally realizing that people hate it when they have to be online to play offline :P

Nice. This game seems too nice to be ruined with over the top DRM.

I'm not exactly sure why some games get the drm and some don't with ubi. I'd figure it might have to do with it's smaller price point. And maybe it's smaller file size.

From Dust is being sold on Steam, which is DRM itself.
