Legendary JRPG creator Miyagi dies at 45

Legendary developer Takeshi Miyaji died suddenly on July 29 at the young age of 45. At the time of his death, he was the CEO of G-Mode, a company he founded in 2000. Miyaji was best known for creating the Grandia RPG series.

Miyaji started developing at the age of 19 with his brother Yoichi; the due founded Gamearts. Aside from the Grandia series, the Miyaji brothers worked on a number of mainly PC and PlayStation 2 games, including Silpheed and Gun Griffon (for the Sega Saturn).

G-Mode issued a statement today announcing his death, but did not reveal the cause of death.
