EA Sports big cheese Peter Moore is the newly crowned EA Chief Operating Officer, which means he controls a lot more than just their sports division now.

EA Games' Frank Gibeau is promoted to EA Labels president, which encompasses EA Games, EA Sports, EA Play and BioWare. They're "inspiring" to EA.

"First, I think it's a great reflection on EA that we are able to tap so much world-class leadership from within our own ranks. The depth of talent and leadership in this company is inspiring," said EA CEO John Riccitiello on the official EA website.

"Second, as I look across EA and back on its history, I come to an important realization," he continued. "The people who succeed here are the ones who map their creative vision over a deep understanding of what our consumers want."

"Our Label structure reflects that strategy. It creates a close partnership between developers and product marketers that connects the creative process to our consumers."

Peter Moore has an illustrious history within the videogames industry as he's generally well received by the gamer community. He presided at SEGA during the height of its Dreamcast years. What more could you ask for on a resume?

Congratulations EA COO Peter Moore and EA Labels president Frank Gibeau. Now get back to work and bring us something new, shiny and not wanting the Internet 'always-on'.

When I saw the title I thought of some new DRM, and a not so witty comment of "They weren't already?" New management always cause a wave of change, not the speech they give at press. Only time will tell... Here's hoping to less DRM and an alternative to it.

Hope usually dies last :).
We'll see but I'm not holding my breath, can't really expect a big corporation to change dramatically.
