Pachter: GTA5 will sell 18-24M units

Wedbush Morgan securities film analyst Michael Pachter is claiming that not only has the unannounced Grand Theft Auto V been in development by Rockstar, but has already cost them $80M in costs. He also predicts that GTA5 will sell at least 18 million units, and may sell as many as 24 million.

As related by GameSpot, "Yesterday, Take-Two reported its latest quarterly earnings, with its April 2012-March 2013 fiscal year to produce $2 earnings per share. This guidance is well above that of the publisher's in-progress fiscal year, and it led one analyst to ask whether it can be assumed that a new Grand Theft Auto will arrive during the quarter. (Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick dodged the question.)"

Pachter also thinks that Max Payne 3's budget will be similar to that of GTA5's. His estimated release date is sometime in 2012.

That's a big number, good luck to them though :).
I hope the game is not as 'sterile' as GTA4 was.

i typed in http://GTAV.com and apparently its an official fan site for gta v or something. they have information up on the game.

i think GTA V will do more than 24 million units. its a huge series, and gamers are looking for something different instead of the tired call of duty year after year.

I cant wait for GTA5, love games that dont have many constraints to them where you can just cause chaos.

bit like Just Cause 2
