Looks interesting. I just hope they don't screw this up like they did with "Dungeons".

It looks and sounds like Sins of a Solar Empire.

Lol, I was just about to say the exact same thing, then I scrolled down and saw your comment :P

I didn't play Sins of Solar empire, but I played Nexus - the Jupiter incident. It's not "build your empire" kind of game, but real-time strategy, and I liked it. And this looks interesting too. Though lately I'm into space theme. Replaying Mass Effect games :P

Nexus??? Ahhhhh, sweet memories :) Too bad the devs gone bust. They were working on a sequel.

There's never enough space strategy games :). Hope this is good.

Certainly looks interesting. Always room for a good 4X on my harddrive.

I was going to say it reminded me of Sword of the Stars with it's blend of turn based and real time gameplay.

The 3 races - 12 factions sounds like it could be good. Provided the factions are actually different in a meaningfull way.

Sword of the Stars II comes out next week.

@JonahFalcon
Are you absolutely sure about that? I've checked several sources and some of them say that the release date is in September (Paradox Interactive site included) while others say that the release date is in August.

Nice job catching this so quickly Jonah. SotS2 should come out soon. Abouts 2 weeks I'd say, without checking. Involved in some ad designs for the game. So, soon anyway...

Official site now says Sept 20 for SotS2.

Ah yes, Nexus, it is still semi-alive in the form of mods, I remember a stargate one that even promises a fully-voiced campaign. But Nexus is nothing like sins or this LoP, it's more like a tactical simulator than an RTS.

Nexus was great. Don't really recall the details but I recall I enjoyed it.

Sword of the Stars II was pushed back to September 13th. At least here in Europe.

But yeah, this game does look very interesting. What's more interesting is that Kalypso represents Sins of a Solar Empire in Europe, so will be interesting to see if they still will now that they have their own 4X franchise.

It's being developed by NovaLogic, who have been around forever doing combat flight sims.

Yeah, and pretty average Flight "games" at that. They didn't do too badly with their Tank "sim" (not really a simulator, but then neither are their flight "sims").
Aside from the title (too "BSG" for my taste), it will be an interesting competitor for "SoaSE 2"

Right, I remember the old F-22 Lightning 2. Hopefully this one will be at least as good as Sins.

WoW, this looks very close to EvE and Sins of a Solar Empire, lets see how it goes up or down!

Hopefully they got it right, because it looks great.

EvE?!

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you've never played EvE.
By unsilviu (SI Core) on Aug 13, 2011

Ahem. What Sir Roderick means to say is that Eve looks quite different from the aforementioned RTS games, it plays much closer to Nexus actually.

And the part where you're playing in spreadsheet mode most of the time.

True, I think one could actually remove the graphics from it and excel, most of it is best played using menus.

Sorry, there was a mistake. It's by a new developer Novacore, not Novalogic.

Yeah I was going to say - this is a debut title from a new studio. They've played games like Sins, Master of Orion, and even SOTS to death though, so they've got a wide range of influence.

Graphically, it's looking VERY nice, and it has a single player story... not sure if it will have that flare yet though.
