Red Orchestra 2 to get free DLC releases, mod tools at launch

Developer TripWire Interactive have already started on the "first batch of new weapons and vehicles," which will get released free to fans of the shooter sequel.

They plan to keep up free DLC which should first release "before the end of the year," and mod tools are expected at launch. Unlockables and perks continue.

For those who love their unlockables and earned perks you needn't fear because the TripWire team has learnt a lot from Ostfront 41-45. “Some people may never unlock everything,” they said, but the studio expects others will go at it hard.

"Some people will burn through the whole lot in a few weeks. Some people scared the heck out of us with how fast they worked through everything in Killing Floor.”

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad will be offering DLC, mods and maybe even expansions eventually. "Work has actually started on some of the first batch of new weapons and vehicles, as people start getting freed up from the main-line development."

“We’d like to think we can get the first free DLC out before the end of the year, but it really depends on what we decide to include in it, to be honest.” Unlockables are intended to be subtle this time around, while avoiding "that whole RPG-style thing".

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad releases on PC this September.

That's how it used to be in the 'good old days' and that's also how it should be for ever. Very nice.

The only reason to band modding is if you fear players will create free content and you won't get a single extra cent out of it.

Hope there is a demo coming for this one. Reports on gameplay makes me wonder if it is a game I will be enjoying or just frustrated over...
