Wargaming.net today announced that its developing a new title called World of Battleships, a free-to-play naval action MMO based on epic sea battles of the 20th century that will complete the "World of" war trilogy.

World of Battleships promises to offer a straightforward interface, easy-to-use controls, and a common economic system that will allow players to distribute resources between the three games; World of Warplanes, World of Tanks and World of Battleships.

The large assortment of available warships will give various tactical opportunities, as all the machines have a unique combination of firepower, speed, armor, and endurance. Various naval maps with changing weather conditions will enrich the gameplay experience.

Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi states: “Humans always needed to conquer the elements — earth, water and air. With World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Battleships we will offer players to conquer all, simultaneously.”

We'll be visiting Wargaming.net at GamesCom, so expect more soon.

These guys sure are expanding fast.

I might try it but i don't really see myself playing this. I get tanks and airplanes, but ships are a bit different. They have huge guns that make for a big booom though, so that's cool :).

It depends how the implement it, if they go for a realistic seeming behavior like with tanks in WOT then the battles could last a while since huge battleships are not exactly know to be agile.
