Blizzard has "hands full" with titles, no time for StarCraft spin-off

Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce has admitted if there was a team "free and available" for a StarCraft MMO then it could happen, if they were "really passionate".

Right now though they've got their "hands full with everything" and so Blizzard hasn't the time to "to do anything beyond" StarCraft as a real-time strategy series.

"We definitely feel like all the worlds we create would lend themselves well to multiple genres and multiple forms of media," said Frank Pearce during Gamescom.

"So, if there was a development team within Blizzard that was free and available to create a StarCraft MMO and that was something they were really passionate about then we would certainly consider it." Fans speculated StarCraft was the new Blizzard MMO.

"But right now, as you can see based on the presentations these guys did tonight, we've got our hands full with everything we're doing. So we don't really have any plans to do anything beyond the StarCraft RTSs and the expansions right now," continued Pearce.

"But anything's possible, because we have created such rich and cool universes." Blizzard's new MMO project is based off an all-new universe teased the studio, and not from anything they've created previously; it's simply codenamed 'Titan'.

Depends - I wasn't blown away by SC2 and the region lock down thing made me not venture into the MP part too much and since there were no LAN option the old gang didn't bite on this one.
If Blizzard will continue their stupid ideas on always online and True ID and Facebook integration at every turn - I think I'll just skip it...

I'm not really interested in the SC universe as I am in WoW's, so I don't really care if they do make an MMO. What I am intrigued by, however, is this Titan. Hopefully it'll be unveiled at this year's BlizzCon.

I'd rather keep Starcraft as an RTS. They could make a movie off of it but i'm not to happy about making it into a MMO. How many Warcraft games have we seen since WOW?

Not really, a lot of people do including me :).
In a similar way that i prefer Warhammer 40k to "regular" Warhammer.

Lost interest in "SC II" much sooner than I thought I would - like as in 3 months post-release. Far too much "same old same old", in fact far too much of the original in the supposed sequel.
Something new and blue Blizz, or the shine on that fading crown will eventually go out. Relic are streets ahead.

Actually that "same old same old" is what I like about it.

And all games in general.

SC2 wasn't all that great, I am still anticipating the announcement on the release date of D3 though!
