No split-screen in Battlefield 3

DICE has confirmed there is no split-screen co-op mode for Battlefield 3 which means you have to be online to enjoy the special co-operative missions.

They're separate from the main single-player campaign and there are six co-op levels in total at launch, but 'random factors' will keep them fresh says DICE.

"No, you have to be online to do it," said DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson at Gamescom this week. He was referring to the new co-op and if it supported the only 'couch co-op' style. Co-op levels take between 20 to 45 minutes said Troedsson.

Times and scores are comparable to friends when you've completed a co-op mission. Points are racked up for displays of teamwork which DICE are very keen to promote all throughout Battlefield 3. Co-op has been debuted for the first time at Gamescom.

Battlefield 3 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC October 25th.

The only split screen I'm bothered about is MW3! I really hope it has it!

Don't really care much about split-screen on the PC, it's a nice bonus feature but not a requirement at all.

Well, haven't used it since the N64, PS1 and old XBox. Never touch it with PC games, so no biggy here.
