Gears of War 3 executive producer Rod Fergusson, in discussing how deep the story of Gears is, revealed that “Gears has never been afraid to kill off characters…”

That implies some major characters will be dying in Gears of War 3. It seems Dom Santiago is the most obvious choice to kill off, since he's a shell of his former self after his wife Maria was euthanized (by Dom himself), but other candidates include Cole Train and even Marcus himself.
