Reuters are reporting that author Mario Puzo's son is trying to sue Paramount over EA's Godfather game because Puzo's estate didn't receive any royalties from the games release.

EA acquired the licence from Paramount, and now Anthony Puzo is trying to claim over $1 million in damages.

“In material breach of the audio-visual products agreement, Paramount has failed and refused to pay the Puzo Estate the sums due it in respect of the Godfather game,” stated the court filing.

EA should have known that, given the enormous hassles Time Warner went through, along with EA for the rights from the JR Tolkien estate for the LOTR movies and games. Someone didn't do their homework.

Especially with Godfather II on the way. Probably what prompted Puzo to pump EA for cash.
