World of Tanks hits US retail

Wargaming.net has announced that its free-to-play MMO tank simulation, World of Tanks, is now available in US retail.

World of Tanks is exactly what the title implies: it's a team-based massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to World War II armored warfare. The game features a flexible system of authentic vehicle upgrades, giving gamers a choice between fast and maneuverable light tanks, all-purpose medium tanks, giant tanks with heavy armor, or even becoming a "heavy sniper" with long-range howitzers.

To justify players spending $19.99 on a boxed copy of a free-to-play MMO, the retail version gives players $30 worth of content:

* 1 T2 Light Tank
* 1 week premium account
* 1,050,000 credits
* 1,800 gold

World of Warships and World of Warplanes were recently announced by Wargaming.net.

A T2 light tank...hehe, have fun with that.

Let's see here. 1800 and the premium week costs another 1250 gold, which is 3250 gold in total, that costs a bit more than 14 dollars. Discounting the tank because it is both easy to get and bad you're spending about 5 dollars on a million extra credits.

It takes a long time to get that gathered up, so actually not that bad a deal I think.
