PC From Dust patched offline

Ubisoft has released their PC patch for From Dust through Steam and now it no longer requires Uplay to function, and save game files are localised.

This basically removes Ubisoft's always-on DRM system from the game, as it no longer demands verification via the Internet each time From Dust starts.

Many complained that Ubisoft lied as From Dust carried the full weight of Ubisoft's PC DRM, whereas the publisher said it would only need an initial verification. The problem escalated so much that Steam began offering full refunds to customers.

The PC update changelog:

- Title can be played in offline mode (no connection to the Internet is required after installing the patch)
- Save file is moved from the Uplay/Ubisoft server to the local machine

Sadly From Dust suffers from other complaints such as a fixed 30 frames per second, and generally a 'poor port' cry of anguish from PC gamers.

I've seen it on a maye's system, it really does have bad port written all over it. A huge shame.
