Sega has announced a new expansion for Total War: Shogun 2 titled "Rise of the Samurai", which will take players through a new independent campaign set 400 years earlier in the 12th century, during a conflict between six clans in the Taira, Minamoto and Fujiwara families.
The campaign features 3 new families divided into 6 playable clans, along with 16 new land units spread across swordsmen, spearmen, archers and cavalry, as well as 10 new naval units and 3 new naval special abilities (“Banzai!”, “Whistling Arrows” and “Rally”) as well as four new agent types with their own unique skill trees in the game. The game will introduce four new Hero units including the Naginata Warrior Monk Hero, the Tetsubo Warrior Monk Hero, the Mounted Samurai Hero and the Onna Bushi Heroine.
The developers released a new trailer for the game; check it out in the video below. The expansion will be available sometime later this month.
