Mass Effect film tells "completely new story" for male Shephard

The Legendary Pictures film based on BioWare's Mass Effect will star a male Commander Shephard, and tell a "completely new story" from the RPG series.

Actor Seth Green, who voiced Jeff 'Joker' Moreau, won't be reprising his role. They have to get the "first one right" to know if there's room for more instalments.

It's of little surprise that the movie studio wanted to go with a male Shephard - that's just Hollywood. No feisty looking, ginger female Alliance Commander to save the galaxy then. "We are really focused on making this a great movie," said a Comic-Con panel.

"We have to get the first one right to know whether there will be more." Legendary is working closely with developer BioWare to hammer out this Mass Effect film, and there are no hints towards who will be cast, except that Seth Green won't be Normandy's pilot.

BioWare big cheeses Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka are executive producers. Who do you think could fill the Systems Alliance boots for Commander Shephard? Surely Legendary Pictures will go with the big bad Reapers, won't they?

Huh. What "completely new story" can you tell? Unless it's placed between ME1 and 2, with the Normandy SR1, before it got destroyed.

My question is, when has a movie ever been about the games story? That being said, when has a games movie ever been good?

Sam Worthington for Shepard! :D
And maybe I'm the only one who thinks this... but if Garrus were a CGI character, I'd love to see him voiced by Keifer Sutherland :P

No FemShep? Damn..
Well, if they'll make a film telling a completly different story from the one we know, why don't put a FemShep as a sister or something?

I think they will need to have at least 15 new votings on how FemShep will look...

I never liked female Shepard. Actually, I hated her.

@Longsword
Seriously? Worthington must be one of the worst examples of Australian actor there is. The one time bricklayer sure mustn't have hauled many bricks, with those punty little sticks many call arms. He might sport the hairstyle of Shepard, but that's about it.

Haha, and you caught me. All I could use for comparison was the hair XD To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure who would make a worthwhile Shepard. I had a friend recommend Channing Tatum and I nearly slapped him.
