EuroExpo 2011: Counter-Strike GO closed beta next month

The Reticule's Chris Evans, in an interview with Valve's Chet Faliszek, is reporting that a closed PC beta for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be starting in early October.


According to Evans, "Talking to Valve’s Chet Faliszek earlier today at the Eurogamer Expo, he revealed that the PC beta for Counter-Strike: Global offensive will be coming early October for people who have received keys at the event and for people from the pro gaming scene.. From there he says it will gradually role up in scale until by years end when he hopes everybody will be able to play in the beta. Watch out for some detailed hand-on impressions of CS:GO along with more comments from Chet to appear on the site over the coming few days."

I'm an old CS player so I would like to try this out. My fears now is that the game will mimick too much from the console influenced games like MW, CoD etc.
CS has always been a PC players benchmark when it comes to online shooters - now I see radial menues and crap. I don't like it to be honest - but if the game play is solid (and not cartoonish like Left4Dead) then this can still be a game to lose several hours to.

We'll see about this one, i've never really been into CS myself. I missed it when it was popular and only discovered it a bit later but it was too old by then and i coudn't really get into it.
Let's hope for a demo or a beta to try it out :)

I was a cs player too! So i really hope they make this good but I have the same fear as you @Foolwolf.
As much as i love COD they shouldnt try and make CS like that. And I may have to buy it for PC as I feel thats how any CS game should be played!

I love CoD all the way up until the first MW. After the first MW it is all pure recycled shit... Did you know CoD was originally a PC exclusive though?

I am little curious about the gameplay. Will it be anything like the first CS, completely different, or exactly the same?

I would really like to try out this game. I have been playing CS for about 9 years (recently haven't been playing it...) and have all of the iterations (except for the stupid ps2 version). I would greatly love to test it out!
