Notch: 2 Minecraft features coming, suing Zenimax

Before Minecraft gets its official release on November 18, there will be two major features added to the MMO, according to creator Markus "Notch" Persson on his blog.

Persson states that the features will be added by October 18 at the latest, giving his development team a month-long window to deal with bugs before the game's release. The two features have not been revealed yet.

Notch also updated fans on Mojang's legal issues with ZeniMax because of the latter's injunction on the former for calling the former's virtual collectible card game "Scrolls", thinking that it'll somehow cause confusion with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Persson noted, "We are claiming one thing. They are claiming another. We’ve tried to negotiate, but we can’t reach an agreement, so we’re going to court. I’m personally very opinionated about things like these. I asked our lawyers, and apparently the documents ZeniMax submitted became public once they were filed... essentially it all boils down to whether 1. the relevant public are likely to be confused into thinking that our “Scrolls” game is connected with Bethesda or its games, taking all the circumstances into account; and 2. apparently themoron in a hurrydoesn’t count."

Does Zenimax really think people will confuse a massive retail release of an open world RPG with a card game?

Just because the plaintiffs say 'moron in a hurry' is invalid doesn't mean it is. Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets thrown out of court within a few days.

So "Scrolls" is now verbotten for general use. Next they'll be copyrighting "The".
I don't get the atraction of this "game" nor "Terraria" for that matter. I lived through the period of PC gaming when ALL games looked like this, and plenty were almost just like it. Would never choose to go retro....ever!
Bit like bringing back flair pants and platform shoes (already lived through that - gag!).

LOL - you and me both Hero - I haven't gotten this - but the guys working at Mojang are really funny guys so I wish them all the best and I hope they win the lawsuit.

Bethesda is getting to big and too annoying - seems like this is happening to all companies going big... I wonder why.. ;)
