Future Halo stories to have "deeper resonances and connections"

343 Industries' Frank O'Connor says the studio decided "about two years ago" that all future Halo stories are "going to matter" to one another; connect the Universe.

Whether it's a game, book or comic they're "all going to have a meaning," he said. However they're making "absolutely sure" that all stories are "self contained".

The Halo developer wants a more 'organic' feel to Halo lore and want them connecting up with each other, so that novels and comics would compliment the Universe.

"We made a decision about two years ago, that every story we made from now is going to matter and have some connections and have some real resonance in the Universe," said Frank O'Connor, in an interview with AusGamers.

"So if you’re watching one of the terminals in Halo Anniversary or you’re reading one of the books or one of the comics in the next few years, they’re all going to have a meaning."

"That doesn’t mean you have to buy a novel to understand the game - in fact we want to make absolutely sure that all of the stories are self contained; that they are fun to understand with or without the deeper resonances and connections - but if you invest in the Universe, you will get a pretty good return on that investment," added the 343 boss.

Halo 4 has been announced for Xbox 360 and will be 343 Industries first major instalment in the blockbuster franchise, but they're also working on Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. The team intends to add their own flavour to the IP, and iron-sights are in.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary releases on Xbox 360 November 15th.
