C.A.R.S. open to public investors

Slightly Mad Studios, which developed Need for Speed: Shift and Shift 2, has opened up the first game in its consumer investor portal World of Mass Development (WMD) to the public.

C.A.R.S. is a realistic kart racer, whose acronym stands for Community Assisted Racing Sim, which is exactly what it sounds like: gamers who like the concept invest money in the game from the start, and get a proportionate share in the profits. Users may invest in the game’s development as much as $100,000.

The developer is pleased by the results after opening up the game several hours ago. "The first project powered by WMD went live just a few hours ago and the response from the community has been overwhelming!" reported the developer from the WMD portal site.

The developer added, "If you ever needed any more convincing to join the C.A.R.S. project, just check out this amazing video from one of our Forum Moderators that showcases the Leonus F68 at Connecticut Hill…" Check out the video below.
