BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka says they're developing Mass Effect 3 for "core fans" but they recognise it's also probably the "best entry point" for newcomers.
The studio has been working their "asses off" to make it great and offers an "epic end to a trilogy" but also "a new beginning," as a galactic war kicks off.
"We’re simultaneously developing this for core fans but we also recognise this is probably the best entry point for the franchise," said BioWare boss Ray Muzyka.
"It’s our highest quality game in the franchise and we’ve been working our asses off to try and make it the best. I think it’s an epic end to a trilogy but it’s also a new beginning, it’s the beginning of a galactic war." BioWare have said Mass Effect will continue.
"We haven’t announced any details of what we’re doing beyond the trilogy, but I think we’re very interested in the continuity of the experience beyond it, too."
"We want this to be a satisfying conclusion, an epic game in its own right and the best entry point for players who haven’t experienced it so, yeah, we want to reach a wider audience, we’re always trying to do that," he added.
“We also want this to be a new beginning for what might come in the future in that universe.” Mass Effect 3 involves Shephard rallying the forces of the galactic community to challenge the arrival of the Reaper fleet who will purge all advanced civilisation.
Mass Effect 3 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC March 6th, 2012.
