Other Ocean's Xbox Live Arcade side-scroller title 'War of the Worlds', based loosely on H.G. Wells' novel, will be arriving on Xbox 360 October 26th.

The XBLA outing introduces new characters and events. The developer's other work includes Dark Void Zero and the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection.

The studio also says it will be "coming soon to PlayStation Network and PC." To help us explore this new take on the classic novel from H.G. Wells', they've gone and signed up the supremely excellent Patrick Stewart to narrate the game.

"Set in London, the gameplay narrative parallels the timeline and events from the 1953 movie adaptation, but introduces a new story arc, characters, locations, and sub-plots," blurbs the official description on the developer's Facebook page.

"With gameplay paying homage to classic cinematic platformers such as Flashback, Out of This World and Prince of Persia, the game follows the exploits of an unknown everyman struggling to escape the Martian invasion of London and rescue his family."

"Forced to think through insurmountable odds, players will outsmart an army of alien tripods, spiders and drones as they make their way through a landscape of total devastation." Check out Patrick Stewart's narration in the trailer below.

The movie was outstanding, but now I am wondering how the game will be.
