Report: Sony Pictures close to securing Assassin's Creed film

Ubisoft has been dangling the Assassin's Creed film rights in front of various movie studios, causing a bidding war between the major houses like Universal.

However it seems Sony Pictures is the frontrunner and is 'close' to nailing an agreement. Ubisoft Motion Pictures is handling the negotiations for the IP.

The creative control of the IP will likely remain under the right reins of Ubisoft who are keen to build a movie portfolio of their greatest and most successful videogame franchises. Hopefully the mega blockbuster selling Assassin's Creed will be done justice.

Are Sony Pictures a good fit for the Assassin-Templar scuffle through time?

Not so sure I would go for Sony Pictures, personally, but still; if Ubisoft retain the rights, it oculd work.

I hope it is something good. Look at Prince of Persia, it was an "ok" movie, although it was quite a few steps away from the game story.

I agree. The movie of Prince of Persia was good, and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't Prince of Persia like we know it.
