Ubisoft has announced a strange new god game developed by Mando Productions called Babel Rising, in which you play a Divine Being who summons holy powers to smack down citizens trying to build the Tower of Babel.

The game is a remake of the popular iOS game, and is being developed for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, using the Kinect and PlayStation Move motion controllers. Using the controls, players can hurl bolts of lightning, summon massive earthquakes or unleash gigantic floods upon the Babylonians as they try to build their sacrilegious tower.

The game will feature competitive and co-operative multiplayer modes, in addition to the single player campaign.

Babel Rising is due to be released sometime in the next year, along with I Am Alive and Shoot Many Robots.

Seems like it might become awfully repetative awfully quickly.

That's just stupid.

Populous was great, unfortunately the games that came after, like Black&White, never managed to keep the genre relevant.

I really love "god games" but the premise of this one really doesn't sound appealing. Like SirRoderick said, a god would not make it his mission to stop one single lousy tower.

Yes, but this is Ubisoft we're talking about (the company with one crownming glory, atm: the "AC" series - everything else it has detroyed recently (including the "IL2" and "Silent Hunter" franchises).
