O'Connor: Halo 4 will be a 360 title

Frank O'Connor has posted in NeoGAF to dispel rumors that Halo 4 will be a title for the next-generation Microsoft console.


In the forum thread, he posts, "Halo 4 will be on *Xbox 360* and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s). Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time."

Analysis: Of course, that doesn't mean that Halo 4 couldn't be dual compatible with a theoretical Xbox 720 - and it's doubtful Microsoft would want to split the second trilogy between two consoles like the first trilogy was. Let us know what you think.

I think given the timing of the release of Halo 4 this new trilogy will indeed be split up and at least Halo 6 will be on the 720 because even if theres one game every year, Halo 4 - 2012, Halo 5 - 2013, Halo 6 - 2014, with all of these rumours buzzing around about the new console being in devlopment and its release date being in 2013 that would put Halo behind schedule and thats only IF the games are released every year and IF the rumours are even remotley true. Not sure which I'd prefer, new console or the new halo trilogy on the same console.

I doubt Halo 5 and Halo 6 will be in 2013 and 2014. The main Halo games have been pretty spread apart (Halo, 2001 - Halo 2, 2004 - Halo 3, 2007 - Halo Reach, 2010).

I'd say it will be mainly focused on the 720, despite what O'Connor states. Backward comapitble on 360, mosy likely. Launch title for the 720, more than likely.
