Shock and disbelief is not something you should be experiencing when learning Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 debuted top of the UK all format chart in its opening week.

Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was heir apparent coming 2nd, while Rockstar's PC offering of L.A. Noire was snooping 38th. Battlefield 3 fell back 3rd, Uncharted 3 6th.

FIFA 12 was 4th last week, Just Dance 3 kept bopping 5th, while Batman: Arkham City skulked rooftops 8th. Wii Party has shot up 10th from 38th. Football Manager 2012 came 14th.

Last week was not a good week to be anything but a blockbuster shooter series, or a goliath RPG. See below for the UK all format chart Top 40 for the week ending November 12th. Of course you might be too busy stopping crazy terrorists starting World War 3, or too engrossed in traversing the land of Skyrim on your trusty steed?

Still, that's a mighty brilliant showing for a genre that was once fround on as being too 'nerdy'. The number of "D&D" guys and gals who were "in the closet" back in the '90's are safe now...relatively.
