Boon: "Unexpected surprise" inbound from NetherRealm Studios

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has twittered that an "unexpected surprise" is due from developer NetherRealm Studios, but it isn't connected to this year's Mortal Kombat.

Answering some barraged questions from fans, Boon also ruled out arcade shooter The Grid. Naturally speculation is real high about an all-new Mortal Kombat instalment.

Then again maybe NetherRealm want a crack at the Barbie franchise? It's been flagging lately, right? The latest Mortal Kombat has been hailed a tremendous success.

I love Mortal Kombat... too bad it wasn't for PC, so I missed out on a couple of the MK games, especially the new one.
