Indie developer Zeboyd Games has announced that the Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII combo pack has sold over 100K copies on Steam since its released on the 13th July. The bundle, which cost a mere $3 USD, enjoyed its biggest sales push during the Halloween season.

The game debuted on Xbox Live Indie Games, and enjoyed success there as well, having sold 20K copies of Cthulhu Saves the World (240 Microsoft Points) and 55K copies of Breath of Death VII (80 MSP). In contrast, both games sold twice as many units in half the time on Steam than the XBLIG versions.

Zeboyd stated in the press release, "We are ecstatic at the amount of success we've seen since releasing our games on the PC. The days of worrying over whether or not we could support our families while making games we would want to play ourselves are behind us. Counter-intuitive though it may be, there is obviously a definite audience for quality console-style RPGs that are aggressively priced on the PC."

The developer is currently working on the long-awaited third episode of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness Part Three. Strategy Informer gave Cthulhu Saves the World a glowing 9.0/10 review score, which can be read here.

It isn't counterintuitive at all methinks. There's a market on PC for ANY quality game.
