Serious Sam 3 DRM involves a pink killer scorpion

The development team at Croteam has a weird, funny DRM scheme for their manic shooter Serious Sam 3: BFE in which a giant, super-fast pink scorpion which cannot be killed will harass you during the entire game. It's similar to what Rocksteady did with Batman's cape in Batman: Arkham Asylum and what FROM Software did in Dark Souls.

That's right, if you pirate the game, be prepared to get squished. For proof of this pink killer, check out the video below.

This kind of DRM is awesome.

This is the sort of innovative and creative DRM the industry needs to look to rather than the anitquated and easily bypassed orthodox DRM (that annoys legitimate gamers only).
Top shelf!

Nice one :)

See THAT is what I call DRM, well bloody done.

Also, that music is fantastic for the game.

I'll bet quite a few crack their game or even download a pirate vrsion just to play against this beasty. "Take on Helicopters" still has the best, with degrading graphics. It resulted in pirates "outing" themselves by reporting this "glitch" on the official forums. Pwned!

Those kind of subtle ones are great, like the Arkham Asylum one.

Alpha Protocol has the sound effects turned off, and just has coughing. It's annoying for me because for whatever reason, it didn't register correctly, so I'd have to keep inputting the code.

When it appeared on Steam for $2, I snapped it up immediately. :D
