US Army's $67M training simulator shows off CryEngine 3

The US Army has spent $67M on a military training simulator for recruits using the CryEngine 3 engine, and developer RealTime Immersive has released some in-engine videos that show off how gorgeous the game looks, especially since it's generating wide-open levels, instead of close quarter corridors.

The sad part is that it is strictly for Army recruits as a tactical training simulation, and won't be released to the general public.

Check out the two in-engine trailers in the videos below, and let us know what you think.

So what's the point of releasing this trailer if the "game" won't be released for the general public?

So the Army is using a controller and Crytek's game engine to train for real life combat, eh? I pity those soldiers once they face real combat.

Suprisingly it doesn't look anything special, perhaps BF3 trailers were too good.

Wasted on recruits. Excellent recruiting TOOL, but not for training. Bugger 'em.
I'll bet they can respawn, after all far too many recruits think it's all one big videogame anyway....until the metal meets the flesh.

Maybe their hoping it'll prepare the soldiers mentally somehow? Either way, I don't see it working too good.
And if it does, well then that means I'm one heck of a soldier already, seeing how I've played most of the Battlefield/Call of Duty games. And both Crysis games. And a million other shooters. Oh, and Zombies, lot of teamwork practice in that game!
Dang, I must have the training of a Supersoldier by now! I'd better go join the Army! :P
