Rumor: Spark Unlimited working on Star Wars Battlefront 3?

A new rumor has sprung up on Twitter that developer Spark Unlimited, best known for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and Legendary, is working on the long-awaited sequel Star Wars Battlefront 3, the Star Wars-licensed variation of Battlefield.

According to Game Informer, the rumor springs from two sources. The first is a listing from Spark Unlimited's official site stating the developer is working on something big: "We are in production on an unannounced high-profile, popular game sequel for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release." The second evidence is that every inquiry made about the developer working on Battlefront 3 is responded with a terse, "You'll have ask Lucas Arts about its franchises, we're just a developer, not publisher."

This rumor might be confirmed if another rumor is true, that Game Informer itself will have Star Wars Battlefront 3 on its cover on the 5th January. This would make Game Informer's report seem to deliberately stoke anticipation for its own upcoming issue.

Of course, all of this is the height of speculation and conjecture - however, where there's smoke, there's fire. Stay tuned.

Does it have awesome, Jedi Knight-like, lightsaber battles?

I don't think so, Battlefront is traditionally centered on the grunts, with Jedi being elite, one-click-kill units used to kill many other grunts, but who knows what they'll put in? Though I'd have preferred personally to get a Jedi Knight sequel rather than another Battlefront... I guess it might have something to do with it being the best-selling SW game ever.

As much as I would also love a sequel to the Jedi Knight games, I'm also really excited about this too (if its true), I sunk many hours/days of my teenage years into the first two battlefront games!

I'd like to see some good space battles with a brand new engine. Looks alright in "BF II", but could be better.
I guess it's a case of "watch this space"...

They'd almost have to make a dedicated engine for the space portion of the game but good and 'realistic' space battles would be super cool.

I'd like more complex space battles. Assaulting an enemy ship by landing in it and then fighting your way through it disabling critical systems like weapons, shields etc. along the way. I know we already have that in "BF II" but I'd like it to be more complex. Also, it would be nice to add a possibility to fly capital ships and not just fighters.

Am just worried about the developer, Spark Unlimited - they did two really terrible games.

Strange, since Battlefront 3 was developed by Free Radical some years ago, then the company went bankrupt, then there was rumors of Battlefront 4,even pictures looking absolutely excellent.
I hope they are finally developing one of the first multiplayers that were better than Call of Duty in the past years.A moneymaking machine that thy just skipped-hope they learn from their mistakes.
Fingers crossed

More on par with "Battlefield 2" than "CoD" I'd have thought, and a very, very good SW alternative to the former. The more I'm reading from different sites that follow "BF" closely seems to lead to the specualtion that since Spark Unlimited did "CoD: Finest Hour" it's more likely that it will be a nother "CoD" title. Have to wait to see what happens, as any questions directed to the Spark Unlimited are met with: "Ask LucasArts".
