CCP is deep in development of their upcoming supernatural MMO the World of Darkness, based off the lives of vampires, werewolves and other things that go bump in the night.

The PC game Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is revealed to be a large source of inspiration to the project, says senior producer Chris McDonough. Vampires the focus.

They are using Bloodlines as a template for the type of atmosphere they want to create in the MMO, where differing Kindred societies clash and vie for supremacy.

Pen and paper RPGs make a natural move into the MMO space, claimed CCP's Chris McDonough, because they focus entirely on individual characters that make up the world. The team is emphasising the gameplay on player to player interactions as it makes the most sense.

There will be a single shared 'universe' for the World of Darkness much like EVE Online enjoys. McDonough assures fans that a triple A development team is still working away on the MMO from all over the world. On the surface the game won't have much supernatural presence until players start digging deeper.

Chris McDonough revealed all this information in a video interview, which is below.

Bloodlines had an awesome story, but miserable combat.

Bloodlines was a great game. I had trouble at first to understand how it works, but after I got into it, I loved the game, especially the story.
